To start off with, Euro 2008 is better than FIFA 08, but I don’t think that there is a enough new features to justify buying Euro 2008 if you’ve already got FIFA.
For a start, Euro 2008 has only the teams that are eligible for the European Championship, including the smaller teams. However, despite the smaller roster of teams and the fewer game nodes, there is no reduction in the price tag.
Multiplayer modes have been improved, with the addition of the “Daily Cup” in which you can play against other people from all over Europe, with a winner being chosen at the end of the Euro 2008. However, this new mode is not really any different from a standard multiplayer game. An exciting new mode is the quick tournament mode where you can set up sixteen player tournaments with your friends or with other people. However, the most important addition to the online mode is the points system which rewards you for making accurate passes, having shots on goal etc but most importantly playing with a weaker team (ie if you beat France with Andorra, you get a lot more points than if you beat France with Italy).
The game play engine is the same as that in FIFA 08, but there are some noticeable differences; the game in Euro 2008 is faster than that of FIFA.
Be a Pro has further been improved with the introduction of Captain Your Country where you compete with two other players to become the captain of your country, starting out in the B side, gradually making your way up the ranks and eventually becoming the captain of your country.
Another new addition is scenarios where you have to complete various famous wins with poorer teams from the qualifying matches. For example, beating Spain with Northern Ireland or beating France with Scotland
Euro 2008 is the best football game around at the moment, but its too similar to FIFA 08 for us to recommend you buy it if you’ve already got FIFA 08 or Pro Evo.
