Tomb Raider Anniversary: 67%

A way to sum up all Tomb Raiders? Quite possibly.

But the question now is: Were they any good? I’m probably angering every Lara Croft fan everywhere when I say this, but…

Tomb Raider games are only really for the Lara-obsessed. The fighting is terrible – it takes about 50 shots to kill a single velociraptor, and you have to keep running, or stay on a wall to survive their onslaught, as you’ll be fighting at least 3 of these at a time.

On the other hand, the jumping from walls, on top of poles, across ravines is very Prince-of-Persia-like, except more realistic, as in it could actually happen. Maybe.

And some of the parts of the game are classic. For example, falling over a waterfall, do you scream for help? Of course not – you turn the move into a jaw dropping dive bomb. Sadly, if you miss the water, Lara’s toast.

This may not be my proverbial cup of tea – but Tomb Raider fans will enjoy the new and improved graphics, the action packed cut scenes, and of course, those moments where you can’t see anywhere else to go, so you jump into the blackness… only to spot the way you should have gone just before you hit the ground.

GGG says: 67%
