As a lot of people all over the world we are all holding our breaths for one of the most anticipated games of the year or indeed the most anticipated sequels ever created. Of course I am talking about Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2. But what makes it such an anticipated game and there is of course the preorder delivery question.
There have been many arguments about the game, most consisting of the fact that some people believe that this new alliteration of the series will be the same as the previous versions with just a few changes like storyline and a few new modes. While that is possibly true, that is nothing that is different to any sports games past and present, so why are people so bothered if the game is similar to previous games and does this make it more anticipated?
Call of Duty has had a massive following for a long time now; in fact it seems that since the second game there has been a following. This following has been ramping up over the last few years and indeed the last few titles. This is due to the whole package that the Call of Duty series offers, but moreover it is due to the whole experience of the first Modern Warfare. Having the series shift from the extremely over done World Wars era and hit the modern era changed the franchise but now just because we are going back to the modern world people are saying that it will be the same as the first Modern Warfare.
This said what was the problem with having all these games set in the World Wars? It was having to repeat the same battlefields from different eyes, you knew the ending and what was going to happen. With Modern Warfare 2 at least there is the mystery of the story, like with Modern Warfare 1 the story is completely made up. There are the additional features as well; the multiplayer mode will be the same idea as Modern Warfare and World at War but with it improved to allow new users to improve their skills quicker and not just end up being cannon fodder for better players. Also there is the improved co-op mode as well, which was first explored in World at War but has been expanded in this version to give better gameplay options.
Finally there is the last part of my question, the delivery game. Over the weekend for the UK there is going to be a postal strike, which has caused problems for gamers waiting for the title. This in turn has lead to games retailers sending out the game early to couriers so that it will arrive on time. As most may have seen across the internet people have been thinking due to getting dispatch e-mails from some companies that they will get the game before the Tuesday release date. Unfortunately, this is not true and instead they are just guaranteed to have the game on the release day as the couriers have been told not to dispatch the game to customers until then.
So, have you got any comments about the game or what you expect from it? Are you been told that you will be getting the game early, if so what is your parcels status? Leave a comment below.
