Gaming On A Budget: Amazing Games… Cheap!

With the credit crunch and all that, I thought it would be a good time to write about games that are really cheap! NB, this article is written for UK readers.

First up, its The Orange Box, which we gave a 9.0 last year. (review here). Containing the amazing Half Lifes 2 and Episodes 1 and 2, the highest acclaimed game ever, Portal and the addictive Team Fortess 2, its easily worth the RRP of £49.99, but not even a year after its release, The Orange Box is available from Play.com for £11.99 (inc delivery). That works out at £2.40 per game! Xbox 360 and PS3.

Next up, its Frontlines: Fuel of War. Available for £7.89 from Sendit.com, its good value. (PC)

Next, its Lego Indiana Jones, which we gave a 7.8 (review here) Despite being relatively new, you can pick up the PC version for £14.99 from HMV. (PC)

No More Heroes for the Wii has received very high review scores elsewhere, and is available from Dixons.co.uk for £14.99 + £1.99 delivery. (Wii)

Sega Superstars Tennis is great fun, but the tennis is awful, so a high price isn't really justified (review here, we gave it 7.3). At Gamestation.co.uk, you can pick it up on all the platforms for between £10 and £20 preowned. The Wii and 360 versions are £10 and £15 respectively, and everything else is £20. (all platforms)

Guitar Hero 3, whilst nowhere as good as Rock Band, is quite a bit cheaper. Its on Amazon.co.uk for £40, including a guitar controller and the game. (Wii)

All prices correct at time of going to press.
