Its that time of year again. Everyone is bringing you their 'games of the year', and we felt obliged to do the same. But instead of producing a definitive list, we thought we'd do something a bit different - the whole of the Nometet writing team was asked to choose their favourite games in a number of categories, so...
Without further ado, we proudly present part one of the Nometet.com Game of the Year awards!

When Red Alert 3 came out in October on the PC, we loved the quirky features, the fun, distracting cartoony style. Most of all, it was the light-hearted style that won us over, and that is what has won Red Alert 3 for the PC one of our coveted awards.
Best shooter (any platform):
Statistically: Dead Space
Alex Denning: Left4Dead
Nometet: Crysis Warhead
Sam Atkins: Dead Space
Roger Batchelor: Battlefield: Bad Company
Rhys Simons: Gears 2
Unmouldeddoor3: Far Cry 2
And the winner is: Dead Space

No other shooter in 2008 brought the intensity and horror that Dead Space did. From the sense of dread and isolation you feel at all times, to the simly breathtaking sound design; Dead Space is world class - Sam

Alex Denning: Burnout Paradise
Nometet: Need For Speed Undercover Wii

It could have been very easy to forget about Burnout Paradise, as it was released nearly a year ago. We haven't, and it is the brilliant open world Paradise City, the free DLC packs and the excellent gameplay experience in Paradise that earns it the award best driving game - Alex
Best RPG (any platform):
Statistically: Fallout 3
Alex Denning: Fable 2
Nometet: Fable 2
Sam Atkins: Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 3 FES
Roger Batchelor: Last Remnant
Rhys Simons: No comment
Unmouldeddoor3: Lord of the Rings Online
And the winner is: Fable 2

This can't be a game made by Lionhead Studios. It actually was released with just about everything that they said would be in it and turned out to be a masterpiece. Equal parts Sweeny Todd and a children's story, Fable 2 turned out to be all around beautiful and fun to play - smerlus
Quite a mixed bag, but at the end of the day, the results were just about what you would expect. Don't worry though, in part two, we'll look at some more interesting categories, with some very interesting results. Stay tuned.
Thanks to Nometet, Sam Atkins, Roger Batchelor, Rhys Simons and Unmouldeddoor3.

I prefer Pro Evolution Soccer 2009 rather than FIFA 2009.
