2008 has brought some great games, but for publishers a game is only great if it sells. In the UK, the best representation of what people are buying is the Games Chart from the ELSPA and Chart Track. They've just released their Christmas chart. FIFA 09 jumps above COD5 to claim the top spot, Wii Play, Quantum of Solace and Tomb Raider Underworld all climb places in the top ten, and further down Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Games, LittleBigPlanet, Prince of Persia and Far Cry 2 all climb a couple of places.

But what do we think are the best? You'll have to hang around to find out; we've got our top ten coming soon.

Interesting. Fifa 09 seems to have come almost from nowhere - one of the more unheralded games of the year. Meanwhile, games heavily thought upon like Guitar Hero and Fallout 3 are towards the bottom, and Tomb Raider has snuck into the top 10. Very interesting.
I think it's just you're not into sports games - FIFA is one of the big releases.
